Indian classical music is one of the most sophisticated and complete musical systems ever developed. Arising from the same ancient tradition as NadaYoga perhaps 4,000 years old. The principles within this music reflect the intricate and diverse energies found in our lives and in our hearts. Those who have immersed themselves into this study find these beautiful links and reflections which can be shared through intimate musical gatherings. This deeply inspired music will elicit and stir your emotions.
This evening of music will feature the genius of Shubhendra Rao on sitar and the inspired tabla playing of Ty Burhoe. Shubhendra has been studying sitar since childhood with Pandit Ravi Shankar. The sitar is an amazing 24 stringed instrument. Shubhendra's deep knowledge of the tradition and his creative, joyous expression bring the ancient yogic states of meditation into contact with the intensity of modern life. Ty has been a studying with Ustad Zakir Hussain for almost 20 years. The tabla is considered one of the most complex instruments on the planet and is capable of producing an amazingly sophisticated and melodious voice.
