Mangrove News Jan-Mar 2012

Hari Om,

The residents, sevaks and teachers of Mangrove Yoga Ashram all join together sending you the very best wishes for an auspicious, inspiring and successful New Year. May all your resolutions be fulfilled! We enjoyed a quiet and peaceful Christmas here. Over New Years, however, the Ashram was filled to capacity with over 350 yoga friends and families, who stayed to sing in the New Year with us during an Akhanda kirtan, which continued past midnight.

The New Year program included special kirtanists from Vrindavan, Vaiyasaki Das and Kaisori, tabla master, Maharshi Raval, and members of the Chant Cartel from Melbourne. We had manjira lessons on the lawn, a tabla recital and an evening concert with Vaiyasaki Das and Maharshi Raval. These guests will all return to sing and play at the Spring Festival in September. On Friday 13 January, the Bhakti Shakti kirtan will feature Atul Kumar and his daughter Anshula Kumar, along with Maharshi Raval

Over the next three months the Ashram will be brimming with guests, students and a multitude of courses and activities to suit the aspirations, interests and needs of each individual. The Yogic Studies modules 1, 2 and 3 will be conducted along with in-depth courses, such as Tattwa Shuddhi, Origins of Yoga, Swara Yoga, Silent Meditation, as well as Family Yoga, Garden Yoga, Photography Yoga, personal retreats and many more. There is a special course and type of stay suited to each person and all are welcome.

You may practise raja, hatha, kundalini, mantra and bhakti yoga, but if you underestimate karma yoga, then all these yogas can lead you to a dissipated and dispersed state of mind. Everyone who is practising yoga should transform their daily activities through the philosophy of karma yoga.
