Delve into the mysteries of the planets that guide karma and dharma, exploring the western system of astrology with an eastern flavour.
This weekend includes a balance of practices, theory and group interactives. Personal charts will be created and referenced in a general context and participants will be given basic tools to help understand their own charts. Early morning classes, yoga nidras and other yoga sessions will have a rich astrological content. Chanting will include Vedic planetary mantras.

The Weekend will culminate with a havan and abhishek puja (ceremony). This puja represents a merging of the cosmic forces in the form of Shiva (consciousness) and Shakti (energy) at the enlightened time of full moon.

Supporting students with depression and anxiety in your regular classes.
Tailoring classes and courses.
Networking and referrals, and your place as part of the alternative health industry.
Appreciating and developing a strong understanding of the benefits of Satyananda Yoga for combating anxiety and depression.
Recognising the distinction between those who are anxious or feeling depressed and those who are experiencing clinical states of anxiety or depression and knowing the implications for you as their yoga teacher.
Applying the knowledge and skills gained over the weekend via a post-course assessment (optional).
This weekend is the first of several planned professional development opportunities in which both Satyananda teachers and teachers from the wider yoga community can collaborate with SYA, course developers and other experienced teachers in order to develop an ongoing program to foster innovative and relevant professional growth.
Yogamaya has been involved with Satyananda Yoga Academy for 12 years as student, teacher and course developer in the area of anxiety in depression. Teaching in the community has given her years of first hand experience of the importance for yoga teachers to be able to provide classes that cater to this significant section of our community. She is a regular teacher and lecturer at Mangrove Yoga Ashram working specifically on Yoga for the Blues with Rishi Vivekananda.
Sattwachitta is an affiliated Satyananda yoga teacher and counselling psychologist. During her years as a counsellor at the University of New England and MacQuarie University and in her private practice of 25 years she has counselled many clients with depression and anxiety. Since completing yoga training in 2007, she has combined yoga practices and psychological techniques to help clients understand and manage these conditions. Sattwachitta also facilitates workshops and seminars with her husband, a palliative care physician, on Caring for the Dying.

Yoga for Elders Sept 7- 9 September at Rocklyn Ashram: Swami Karmayogini is holding a workshop in Rocklyn, exploring the ageing process and how yoga can support health and well-being for elders.
Yoga and Cancer at Manly Yoga: Swami Jivancharu and Sn. Muditachitta put their extensive experience of teaching yoga to people with cancer and working within the health and welfare industries into a 2 day workshop. (Please note that the workshop in July has been cancelled until further notice).
$280 inclusive of food, accommodation and course
A further $20 for those participants who wish to complete the post course assessment.
