Student Weekends and Ashram Experience Weeks
In addition to the main residential periods, several residential weekends are a feature of the courses. While not compulsory, they are encouraged so that you may reconnect with the yogic lifestyle, classmates and lecturers. The library and computer facilities will also be available. Also offered are seven additional days on campus at any time during each module at no additional cost. See Mangrove dates here. Please contact Rocklyn for information on their student weekends.
Full time options
If you are able and have the time, then living on campus at Rocklyn or Mangrove for a period of time while undertaking this course is well worth considering. Living in an ashram is very conducive to establishing the positive habits and discipline necessary for leading a yogic lifestyle.
Students living at either centre have study periods scheduled into their weekly timetable, along with access to computers and study library. Rocklyn Yoga Ashram
Satyananda Yoga Rocklyn is set in acres of secluded eucalypt forest. The surrounding forests provide excellent terrain for walks or simply sitting in contemplation. The nearest town is Daylesford, 15 min drive away. This is a reasonable sized town and has most facilities, including post office, chemist, newsagent, EFTPOS, banking and food stores. The major regional centre of Ballarat is a 40 min drive. The ashram is 1¼ hour drive west of Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria.
Mangrove Yoga Ashram
Mangrove Yoga Ashram is located in a quiet country valley amongst natural bushland on Mangrove Creek. The extensive grounds and gardens offer numerous little hidden nooks for sitting, reading or enjoying the sun. There are wallabies and lyrebirds, misty mornings and glorious afternoons, great walks and swimming as well as the space to unwind and rest.
The nearest towns are the small villages of Spencer and Mangrove Mountain, each 20 minutes drive away. They each have only a general store/post office. There is an Occasional Child Day Care facility at Mangrove Mountain.
The Mangrove ashram is 40 minutes west of Gosford, which is the major service centre of the Central Coast region. The city of Gosford has a full range of services, including banking, medical and dental services.
By road, the Mangrove ashram is about one and a half hours north of Sydney and about one and a half hours south of Newcastle.
